Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV)

The Global Alliance for Banking on Values (GABV) unites 70 financial institutions from around the world that are actively supporting diverse stakeholders in their transition towards more regenerative economies and societies.

Not only do they outcompete conventional banks in regard to social and environmental impact. The financial results of their clients and their own institutions demonstrates that we can co-create financial systems that integrate economic success with regeneration.

While GABV now includes many partner institutions from the Global South, it was initiated by Triodos, Europe’s leading sustainability bank and investment firm that financed many Southern Hemisphere, becoming a model for South-South-North collaboration.

Before joining GA, Daniel Povel, one of our Managing Partners, accompanied the development of GABV while being one of the most senior leaders of Triodos for 18 years in senior leadership positions at Triodos.

GA and NOW Partners Foundation supported its co-founding partner, Sri Lankan microfinance institution Sarvodaya Development Finance to join GABV and to engage with leading financial institutions such as Triodos and FMO, the Dutch development bank.

GA also featured GABV leaders in its international events, such as at the UN’s Climate Summits COP 27, COP 28 and COP 29 and plans to continue spreading this model for evolving financial systems and their institutions.
