GLOBAL ACADEMY was launched in 2024 at the three UN Global Summits
UN Biodiversity COP16 in Cali, Colombia
UN Climate COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan
UN Conference to Combat Desertification, COP16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
GLOBAL ACADEMY was co-founded by the founders and leaders of highly innovative agriculture and forestry approaches as well as by related stakeholders, including institutions of the public, civil society and private sectors.
GLOBAL ACADEMY is co-hosted by Soluções Naturais (Natural Solutions), a Brazil non-profit association. Soluções Naturais globally supports food system transformation, scaling highly innovative agriculture, value addition and blended finance solutions that regenerate nature, strengthen farmer incomes and provide healthy food, including school meals and other public and private market solutions.
DIVERSE TERMS, SHARED PRINCIPLES While the agriculture and forestry approaches that GLOBAL ACADEMY helps to scale use diverse terminologies – such as Agroecology, Natural Farming, Organic, Biodynamic and Regenerative Agriculture – they share in common principles and outcomes: they strengthen farmer incomes and local economic development, food and water security, the climate, biodiversity and sustainable development of individuals and communities. They can regenerate fallow lands and deserts. Because they don’t use chemical inputs, they strongly reduce carbon emissions and sequester large amounts of carbon, making them, together with renewable energy, the most important opportunity to profitably resolve the climate crisis.
